Turning Old Jewelry into a Pure Gold Bar 10oz 24K
What do you do with older family heirlooms that are out of style or just never worn? Often, these old pieces are cherished but tend to sit unused and underappreciated. I very much enjoy recreating these pieces into something new for families to appreciate.
I chemically refine the karat gold into pure gold and pour it into beautiful new Lithic Gold Bars. New treasure that continues to carry the sentimental value the family holds so dear.

Creating a Set of Twin Bars Worth More Than Gold!
Переглядів 13 тис.Рік тому
Imagine getting the chance to help create a special gift for a newborn set of twins. What a wonderful opportunity. A few months ago a proud father to be contacted me about creating a set of hand poured gold bars for his new babies. We put our heads together and decided it would really be special if we could pour them on the day of their arrival. Around midnight I received a message saying that ...
Does it really matter if gold bullion is contaminated with a little silver? Let's find out!
Переглядів 771 тис.Рік тому
I recently received a gold bar to re-pour into a Lithic bar. Unfortunately, when I examined the bar, I suspected it might be slightly contaminated with base metals. The bar had a barely perceptible copper huge, with a small dark patch of oxides on one end. I also noticed the bar had scratches that appeared to be made from being rubbed with sandpaper for a file. It this is done to a gold bar, yo...

Peter, this is basic chemistry. I simply used copper to recover the silver from the used electrolyte solution. It's what I do everyday, it's a part of the refining process

Quite a process, converting mixed gold into 'pure gold' My friend has a 900 gram melted block of gold from old jewelry needing purification.. maybe we do it outside on the picnic table. approx how many hrs? Thank you for this video.

There is so much to learn in order to do these processes safely and to be able to dispose of the waste products safely. Can you do it... sure. But if you do, it's a big commitment. Doing it outside on your picnic table would open you up to a lot of risk.

First, let me say I absolutely love your work. You have elevated the creation of gold bars to something between a craft and an art. At some point, I would love to commission one of your bars. Second, a minor question: Why do you refer to silver, when combined with gold, as a "base metal." I thought "base metal" referred to an inexpensive metal, such as copper, tin, zinc, or lead, and not a precious metal, such as platinum, gold, or silver. Am I misunderstanding something?

i have a 14k yellow gold ring, and a 14k white gold ring, can I just melt those together and use that to make another ring? ratio is about 2:1 yellow to white. I imagine it will just be a really light yellow..

    • @LithicMetals
      @LithicMetals День тому

Hey Jason. I'm not an expert on crafting jewelry. But from my understanding, that wouldn't be a good idea. Certain ratios have to be met. Otherwise, the metal can become brittle. I'd chat with a jeweler.

Now you got to get the copper out of solution using aluminum because copper is valuable and then the cycle continues because then you got to get the aluminum out of solution because the aluminum is valuable by using zinc and then eventually zinc is valuable so you have to get it out of solution and the cycle never ends which means you will always have a way of making money

Actually, I drop the copper with iron. Then, dispose of the copper. It's not worth recovering. It's just a few ounces in the end.

What's funny i remember a giant bottle of blue silver nitrate in chem class. Damn i took the Hydrochloric Acid to see what i could destroy wish i would've none this they could've kept the acid.

    • @LithicMetals

I really didn't explain this good enough for folks. The silver didn't come from the copper. You can't easily turn one element into another. I used copper to recover the silver from the used electrolyte solution.

The concentration of the solution started at 300g p/L. As it's depleted in the silver cell, it came whatever it was in the vid (I can't remember the numbers). It was def worth it to me to recover the remaining silver from the solution.
